Western Palm Beach Community Alliance Drives Delays, Public Awareness, and Legislative Attention on Project Tango

Palm Beach County, FL — April 11, 2026

The Western Palm Beach Community Alliance today announced significant progress achieved since the December 10, 2025 meeting of the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners (BCC), when Project Tango was placed on the consent agenda for approval of a zoning variance to expand its footprint.

Project Tango was originally approved in January 2025 for warehouse and traditional data center use. Since that time, the project has evolved into a proposed hyperscale AI data center campus, representing a substantial increase in development intensity, infrastructure demand, and potential community impact.

Key Outcomes Since December 10

Elevated Public Awareness
The Alliance brought immediate attention to Project Tango’s placement on the BCC consent agenda—typically reserved for routine approvals—ensuring that a major industrial expansion did not move forward without public scrutiny. What was previously an obscure item is now a widely recognized issue across Palm Beach County and beyond.

Mobilized Community Engagement
Residents throughout Arden and surrounding western communities organized quickly to attend meetings and voice concerns regarding proximity to homes and schools, environmental impacts, and compatibility with existing land uses. What began as an urgent response has grown into a unified, community‑wide movement.

Secured Critical Project Delays
As a direct result of public engagement and advocacy efforts:

  • The BCC voted unanimously in December to postpone the application, removing it from the consent agenda for further review.

  • The scheduled April 23, 2026 hearing has been postponed to July 15, 2026.

These delays provide essential time for additional analysis, transparency, and public input.

Sparked State‑Level Legislative Discussion (HB 1007)
The Alliance’s advocacy has extended beyond local government, contributing to ongoing legislative discussions in Tallahassee surrounding House Bill 1007 (HB 1007). Proposed amendments have focused on:

  • Defining hyperscale data centers as a more intensive land use category

  • Addressing proximity to residential communities and schools

  • Establishing clearer regulatory oversight for emerging AI infrastructure

A Community‑Driven Impact

Since December 10, the Western Palm Beach Community Alliance has:

  • Transformed a consent agenda item into a countywide and statewide issue

  • Generated widespread media coverage and public discourse

  • Secured multiple delays for further review

  • Helped drive legislative attention at the state level

All public awareness and media attention surrounding Project Tango to date has been driven by the Alliance’s grassroots efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and responsible development.

Looking Ahead

With the next BCC hearing scheduled for July 15, 2026, the Alliance remains committed to advocating for responsible land use, informed decision‑making, and the long‑term protection of western Palm Beach County communities.
